'Man Up' at Dorking Halls
Our all male singing group 'Man up' were guest performers at the Dorking Halls, on Monday 15 May, to a packed audience at the South East Surrey Primary Schools music festival. The group is made up of 23 boys mostly from Years 7 and 8 and performed songs by the Beach Boys. They were accompanied by a student trio of piano (Max Neale), bass (Ben Wood) and drum kit (Chris Coveney). Max, who is in Year 13, then did a solo improvisation on Soprano saxophone accompanied by the trio (with Mr Wood on piano) to finish the performance. The students performed with real energy and the reaction of the audience was lovely. The students should be very proud of the excellent standard they achieved.
Mr Rodwell, who has worked with them this year commented on the enthusiasm and dedication of the performers.
"It has been a real pleasure to work with them each week this year and see the way they have developed. I hope to see them go into even greater things in the future."
The concert, which was organised by Surrey Arts, included the following Primary Schools who all sang as part of a massed choir directed by George Jones.
(Felbridge Primary School, Manorfield Primary School, Reigate Priory School, St Anne's Catholic Primary School, St John's Primary School, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, St Matthew's C of E Primary School, Sandcross Primary School, Wray Common Primary School.)
