St Bede's produce some aces

During the summer term, we enjoyed a successful tennis season consolidating our reputation as one of the best schools in the area for sport. We entered the Surrey Schools Tennis Championship and achieved great success with our pupils pitted against the best schools in the county.

The Year 8 girls team (Charlotte Endsleigh and Sophie Thompson) finished third overall. They won all of their group games earning a place in the semi final which they narrowly lost against Notre Dame.

The Year 10 boys team (Chris Jackson and Will Chapman) finished fourth overall. They beat pairs from Tiffin 6 – 1, Epsom College 6 – 1, Greys Court 6 – 1, Howard of Effingham 5 – 2 before losing to Hinchley Wood 2 – 5. These results earned them a place in the semi final which they lost against a strong Whitgift pair.

The Year 9 boys team (Caleb Simms and Callum Bradshaw) came fifth overall beating Epsom College 6 – 1, Howard of Effingham 7 – 0, Greys Court 7 – 0 before losing to hosts St George’s 3 – 4.

In addition, our social tennis club proved very popular with over 40 pupils attending during the season!
