Garden projects, created by pupils at St Bede's, recognised at RHS Wisley
On Wednesday 2 December a team of Y8 pupils and a team of Y9 pupils attended a celebration and assessment day at RHS Wisley to present their school garden projects.
The pupils have been working really hard over the last eight weeks on a project which involved planning a new garden for the school site. They had to produce a plan of their garden, including the plants they would use, a display to show all of their research, a written report detailing their whole project and build a model of their garden. This was all presented to other schools and a group of assessors from Wisley and the Royal Horticultural Society.
This project has shown great commitment on the part of the pupils and they have worked tirelessly over the last eight weeks. Both myself and Mrs Sharp attended with the pupils and we were so proud of what they had produced and how they presented themselves to the assessors. They are a real credit to the school. Well done!
Both Teams managed to achieve a CREST award. Year 8 achieved a bronze award and year 9 achieved a silver award which was amazing. The next step… Can we make these gardens a reality? Watch this space.
