Higher education and careers
We have extensive guidance for university applicants, from helping you decide which course to study, to guiding you through your personal statement. Your tutor plays a key role in writing your reference, and this is where the precious individual relationship between tutor and student is really beneficial.
Through the tutorial programme, you will be prepared for the next stage in your life through activities such as mock interviews and university visits if you are thinking of higher education. We will also help you prepare for Oxbridge entry, interviews and to apply for courses such as Headstart.
UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) is the admissions organisation for higher education in the UK. Its website is www.ucas.com. To keep up to date with the latest information, parents can subscribe to a parents newsletter via this link. UCAS also has an information tool for parents – which you can use for advice, hints and tips to help your child, or someone you care for, through the application process. It also includes links to student finance information, though we have also put a separate direct link to Student Finance below; along with a Youtube video about the finance application process.
We subscribe to Unifrog, which supports students to make informed decisions about university courses and higher apprenticeships.
We also have an independent careers advisor from Innervate available to give students advice. Please click here to make an appointment or visit our careers page.
Year 12 work experience
In Year 12, students undertake one week's work experience in the summer term. This is independently arranged but must be authorised by the school and follow the school's process. All work experience employers must complete the form available below before placements are confirmed.
