Governors' Fund (donations to school)

Your help will make a difference and provide a lasting legacy for generations to come

As a Voluntary Aided (VA) school, the responsibility for maintaining our buildings and facilities rests with the governing body. This means that we are not fully funded by the Government in the same way as other schools. When any repairs need to be made to the school or grounds, the governing body are required to pay 10% of any building costs, including property maintenance and insurance.

We are reliant on the generosity of parents/carers and friends to ensure that there is sufficient money both for property maintenance and to help towards the long-term development of the school. The fund is really important to our continuing success.

Parents/carers of children at St Bede’s are invited to make a regular monthly contribution to this fund. These contributions can be ‘Gift Aided’ so that the school can claim back income tax already paid on the donations.

In addition to the annual costs of items such as insurance and maintenance, the governors’ fund has supported projects including upgrading the sixth form study areas and sixth form canteen, and supported the expansion of our canteen facilities and the installation of our external food kiosk to help reduce the queues in the canteen.

Whatever the size of your contribution, all donations are very much appreciated and every penny goes towards improving the educational facilities at St Bede’s. Governors urge all parents/carers to consider contributing to our fund so we can continue to ensure our students have the best possible chance to succeed.
