Sixth Form Admissions

Admission to the sixth form is primarily about ensuring that each student can join the right courses which will have the highest chance of success and enjoyment. We welcome students from all schools, from faith or non faith backgrounds to be a part of our strong community.

All applicants
Please provide your choice of subjects in order of preference that you wish to study; this is not binding, just a basis for discussion and advice. After analysing your options, we will inform you which subject combinations are possible based on the choices of all students who apply by 1 December 2022. At the guidance meeting, we might ask you to consider some changes (although we try to avoid this wherever possible) and once our timetable blocks are finalised, guided by the choices submitted, we allow flexibility when it comes to subject changes until mid September. Course changes at the start of Year 12 are only possible if the combination of subjects fit with the timetable blocks, the courses have space and you meet the entry requirements.

The deadline for applications was 1 December 2022. Applications received after this date will be considered if we have space on courses and can match your choices.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for the St Bede’s Sixth Form for this academic year are five GCSEs (9-4)/Cambridge National (Merit and above). Please be aware that A level subjects usually have a minimum requirement of a grade 5, this will have to be achieved to study specific subjects. All students opting for the sixth form at
St Bede’s must have demonstrated a positive attitude towards their studies at GCSE level.

As well as the three (in some cases four) chosen subjects, students will also take part in fortnightly citizenship lessons, plus a short course in philosophy in Year 12.

Please see additional information provided in the course leaflets available - click here.

(We also encourage students planning to apply to university to check entry requirements for their desired course.)
