Section 48 Inspections
Back"Christian vision and values are the keystone of life at St Bede’s."
SIAMS INSPECTION 2025
As you are aware St Bede’s had a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) visit in October and I am delighted to share with you the full report. I am extremely pleased that the lead inspector awarded St Bede’s the highest judgement and that we as a school are “living up to its foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish”.
"The care and wellbeing of the school community is of paramount importance."
SIAMS INSPECTION 2025
I am passionate that as a school we provide our students with a safe and caring environment. St Bede’s is not an exam factory but a school where students feel valued, respected and can grow in their Christian faith. The report highlights a wide range of strengths including Christian vision and leadership, spiritual development, RE provision and our fantastic Chaplaincy team.
I have attached the full report to this communication and I do hope that you can make the time to read this. Some of the key highlights for me include the following:
- Christian vision and values are the keystone of life at St Bede’s.
- There is an exceptionally welcoming ethos at St Bede’s. This demonstrates its highly inclusive nature, not only in terms of different denominations, but also in terms of students’ backgrounds. They are treated with respect and dignity and consequently their opinions are listened to and acted upon.
- The care and wellbeing of the school community is of paramount importance.
- Staff know students very well and tenaciously ensure their needs are met.
- The ethos is one of welcome and good relationships.
- Exceptional support and pastoral care for students, based on the value of belonging, enables them to thrive.
- Students who have special educational needs and/or disabilities or who are deemed vulnerable are given extra help. The recently changed role of the deputy heads of year to focus on those deemed disadvantaged increased their success. A vast range of strategies exists to provide support and as a result learners prosper.
The two day inspection was extremely thorough and inspectors were able to see St Bede’s in action. This included:
- Walking the school with myself dropping into lessons.
- Analysing and scrutinising data and student questionnaires with myself.
- Reviewing our Christian vision, values and curriculum.
- Observing RE lessons across every key stage.
- Observing year group collective worship.
- Observing tutor time collective worship.
- Meeting with six student panels consisting of every key stage.
- Meeting with a staff panel.
- Meeting with Mr Gangemi and Mrs Moore in their roles as Head of RE and KS3 Coordinator of RE.
- Meeting with our Chaplaincy team and Mr Blount.
- Meeting with parents/carers.
- Meeting with representatives from the Anglican Diocese of Southwark.
As I always say this school is not perfect but we will continue to work hard. Staff at St Bede’s will strive to provide the best possible Christian education for your child. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and I look forward to working with you throughout this academic year.
God bless.
